When you receive a POR from your customer, it is possible that they don’t know the scientific name for your product. Since scientific names are required for wooden products, and the field cannot be empty, they can use a placeholder to have the POR delivered and ask you to provide a full scientific name in the supplier portal when you are answering the request. Here is how you can do that.
Step 1: Navigate to the Product List
Log in to the portal
Click on the Product by Customer tab in the main navigation menu.
Locate the specific customer request (e.g., Prewave) to view the list of associated products.
Note: You will see a list of products including columns for "Product Reference," "Commodity," and "HS Code."
Step 2: Locate the Scientific Name Field
Identify the product row you wish to update.
Look for the Scientific Name column.
By default, if the name has not been set, this field will display the text "Placeholder".
Step 3: Edit the Information
Click the Pencil Icon (Edit) next to the "Placeholder" text.
A pop-up window titled "Edit Scientific Name" will appear.
Step 4: Enter the Scientific Name and Save
This is a free-text field. Type the correct scientific (Latin) name of the wood species used in the product.
Example: Pinus strobus
Ensure the spelling is accurate.
Once the name is entered, click the black Save button to confirm your changes.
Completion
The product row will now update to reflect the new Scientific Name. If you have multiple products, please repeat steps 2–4 for each item requiring an update.
